Charlotte Issyvoo as an Easter Egg

Shoes: Keds; Skirt: Everly; Top: Reitmans; Earrings, brooch, and coral ring: vintage; Bracelet: Forever 21; Clutch: vintage
It was Easter weekend, the weather was beautiful, and a bunch of us were going to high tea for Dee's Canadian wedding shower. So, though I'm mostly Jewish, and I'm maybe a little too old for it, I just had to dress up like an Easter egg.

In other words, it was time to break out the spring pastels.

And yes, I really am that white. I don't mind, but it does mean that the sun and I are not good friends and never have been.

Sweater: thrift

After the shower, Beau and I went to a park, just to enjoy the day. The whole city was in parks that day, I think.

I'm really getting into wearing Keds with skirts and dresses. They're marvelously old-fashioned and really wonderfully comfortable and practical. They're a great solution for someone like me, with a back injury who just can't wear heels anymore. At about $40 a pair, I plan to get them in a few colours too.

I'm lucky that I can tie my shoe laces. I have to sit in special way to do to do it but at least it's possible. A lot of people with chronic pain problems can't tie their shoes as their hands can't manage it. Keds does also have slip on varieties that look almost the same as the lace-ups. In fact, these ones are slip-ons. I just added the laces for effect.

These sorts of beaded clutches are not hard to find in second hand shops. This one's in pretty good shape, given its years.

And the clasp is really good quality -- and pretty too.

Beau gave me this bracelet for Valentine's Day. You've seen in before and you'll see it again, for sure! I've been waiting to be able to wear it with this skirt.

A sure sign that the sun's been out? I bust out in freckles all over, even on my lips! I do tan, if you call going from translucent to simply very white tanning. Mostly I burn or I freckle.

It's funny. One minute I'm looking at a photo of my hand and thinking that I'm getting older...

Check out that mountain view behind me!
... and the next minute I'm looking at a photo in which my squinty, "it's too sunny" expression is identical to the one in many childhood photos of me...

... and then I'm deciding whether or not to include a photo that proves that, yes, I really am starting to go grey, albeit very slowly. I've been "starting to go grey" for several years now. It seems to go slowly on my dad's side of the family.

Is it just my imagination or do Jews grey later than others? It's probably just my imagination.

I call all my old, non-geometric, pre-1970s brooches "grandma brooches." I have a lot of them!

In this case, my grandma brooch called for a grandma sweater.

This was the inaugural run of these little earrings. I got a lot of compliments on them.

I like photos of myself in motion because motion doesn't come easily to me. I like to see that I have improved. This was not a particularly "good back" day. I was in quite a bit of pain. Note how I am leaning on my knee to take some pressure off my back.

Still, I could not have picked up these bags four years ago, let alone gone to a shower, done a tiny bit of shopping, gone to a park, and walked home from the park. Yay me. I guess.

I didn't mean to immortalize these strangers on the street. I hope they wouldn't mind.
This is the view from my balcony. Every year, this tree gets bigger and every year people stop under it to photograph it when it's in bloom.

Spring colours to go with a spring day.

And if you haven't figured it out, spring goes on for several months in this part of the world. Summer is another story.

  1. I'm in love with your skirt! Everything you're wearing is beautiful and you are radiating grace ;-)
If you like Keds check out the Shi by Journeys website http://www.shibyjourneys.com they have numerous oxfords for the same price point that would work well for you. Also look for Chelsea Crew brand. I'm finding them on ideeli and they have low-heeled wing tips and pumps that are gorgeous.
PS - I'm that white, too - and I live in the South LOL.

    1. Thanks for the tips. I'll definitely check them out. I can't always get things shipped to Canada though but I'll see.

We get a lot of rain and cloud cover here. I'm one of the few people who doesn't complain about it. I feel like I have the flu if the temperature goes over about 25C, and even that's pushing it.
